If Miss Brady was a teacher she would find she gets paid 9-3.30pm but most schools have an rule that teachers start work at 8am and finish at 4-430 pm to prepare class rooms mark books which can amount to 30plus books for each subject . Teachers provide reading books soft furnishings and numerous things the school budget doesnt provide .As for 10 weeks holiday ha ha teachers have the first and last week week of main holidays to go and take things down and provide new settings etc If as in my daughters case one weeks holiday was spent cleaning the school due to a bad flood as the council had no cleaners she has spent days in freezing rooms as no heating and old buildings But the main reason for the strike yes its for money as after tax they are lucky to earn £50 a day But the real reason is their wage comes from the school budget not government which means less money for pens books and resources to teach children Also teachers do have a love of what they do hence even though some strike there are others that go in for exams and to help key workers keep their children in school and dont forget the fact they are responsible for safe guarding their children and spotting disability such as autism etc my daughter gets up at 5-30 am daily so she can get to school at 7-30 am and she never leaves before before 5-30 and still does a couple of hours over the weekend at the moment she is extra stressed thanks to a visit from ofsted and the headteacher stressing who came back from breast cancer early So instead of spouting off about teachers and pay STOP AND THINK HOW CUSHY YOUR LIFE IS MISS BRADY!!!
